Finished Charlotte's Web

I finished Charlotte's Web today! It is *very* bright and would look good with white I think, or turquoise. A little too funky to wear to work though. I will have to post a picture this weekend.

Charlotte's Web

I am halfway through the last color repeat! It's vivid blue - just like the sky today. I decided that I will not be putting a fringe on, rather I will find an edging that's round and smoother. There is a great deal of wool leftover from the earlier repeats.

The Autumn Hill socks are finished. I cast on another Opal plain stockinette (size 2 needles, 64 stitches, black and white with turquoise stripes) and am knitting the heel flap.

Briefly

I've been knitting Charlotte's Web in the brightest possible colors I could find. One more color repeat and it is finished.

These have been blue days. Sometimes they go on and on until I wish that it doesn't last much longer. Once in a while breaking out is quick and sudden - like getting jostled by the universe - and this morning I got lucky. Garrison Keillor read the most beautiful poem on WNPR:

Briefly It Enters, and Briefly Speaks

I am the blossom pressed in a book,
found again after two hundred years. . . .

I am the maker, the lover, and the keeper. . . .

When the young girl who starves
sits down to a table
she will sit beside me. . . .

I am food on the prisoner's plate. . . .

I am water rushing to the wellhead,
filling the pitcher until it spills. . . .

I am the patient gardener
of the dry and weedy garden. . . .

I am the stone step,
the latch, and the working hinge. . . .

I am the heart contracted by joy. . .
the longest hair, white
before the rest. . . .

I am there in the basket of fruit
presented to the widow. . . .

I am the musk rose opening
unattended, the fern on the boggy summit. . . .

I am the one whose love
overcomes you, already with you
when you think to call my name. . . .

Simplify

In an effort to simplify my life, I'm giving my acrylic stash to my friend who loves to crochet. I have never knit with it and realized I never will. I used to crochet blankets with acrylic but it has been 10 years and that portion of my stash is taking up space I could use for spinning fiber.

Adamas

Adamas is knitting very quickly (for me anyway).  Even though I'm working on it only at home and even then between housekeeping, I have five repeats finished out of fourteen.  I'm having a great time with it.  I realized I am not experienced enough yet to work knitted lace which may be why it was so frustrating last weekend.

Last night it was cold enough to start a fire but I am still excited to see flowers coming along, albeit slowly.

rainy sunday

rainy, knitty Sunday!
