High Summer

It has been so long that I've posted that I couldn't remember my password for a second. We've finally reached high summer here and its been beautiful. It rained for much of May, June and July. Quite a change after the last couple of years drought.

Finished a small shawl for a friend of Tom's with some beautiful yarn with silver in it from Bluestocking Knits. It's Milkweed, by CosmicPluto. I hope she likes it.

I've been working on socks and a couple of other small things, but not much to report about really. I'm thinking about small bits for Christmas knitting which I'd like to start soon. Sewing seems much more attractive right now than holding wool.

Animals are all good though my old friend Muddy died a couple of weeks ago. He was the last buddy from my single days (19 when he died) and you couldn't ask for a sweeter cat. Seems like we're always losing someone but then again we have so many.

Off to mow the lawn. I've been thinking about everyone and hope that you are well!

Happy New Year

I feel very blessed over here and hope the same for everyone for the new year. I'm on the first real vacation I've had since August, 2007 when I went to Newfoundland with Mom. I can't quite hardly believe it. Even though it has not been too cold, the last two afternoons I spent knitting by the stove, watching the light move across the house and watching everyone sleep. Occasionally falling asleep myself wasn't so bad either.

I've been knitting things for my husband. This is Celtic Harbor Hat from Blackberry Ridge Woolen Mill. It is the neatest little pattern with three layers for the brim.

Spey Valley socks are coming along, but painfully slow. Brigitta is completely stalled because it is too small and sewing it up has been hard.
